What’s more important than a lens, lighting, and luck?

Thousands of dollars, hundreds of shots, and editing? Uh, no.

What’s at least as important as the lens, lighting and luck? An eye.

An eye that’s always on the lookout for just the right lighting, for the right angle or crop, backdrop, timing, and patience.

Maybe if I had timed it right, I might have seen the reflection of a bald eagle in one of the larger drops of water. But we were getting late for school. It was just the right moment, I really just needed a shot for my Run Keeper walk photo. A huge ingredient in good photography is passion. I am always on the hunt for a photo that I know I’ll cherish. I truly look at the good ones again and again. I especially enjoy macro (close up) shots where you can see the texture of the subject.

I just can’t lug around that big digital SLR. This one below isn’t only with an iPhone, it’s even with my old iPhone. That’s an iPhone 4. Why is it good? Lighting, angle, timing, luck, and an eye for detail.
