How to put out a fire in Istanbul in 4 steps … or are there only 2 steps?
When writing instructions, do you need to be thorough or to the point? Or both?
Disclaimer: I don’t speak Turkish. Double disclaimer: I don’t even know if this is Turkish, but hey, it was in Turkey.
In case you’re in Istanbul, you might want to print this out in case of fire.
- Stand up straight and spray extinguisher onto fire.
- Keep doing #1. Not sure why we need a #2 if it’s the same as number 1. Maybe they wanted to make sure to have several steps to show that it’s more complicated than it seems.
- Bend your knees a bit and lean into the fire. I don’t know, this sounds like you’re getting closer to the fire. I suppose this is a good strategy if the fire is getting smaller.
- Keep doing #3. See note at #2 about continuing to do #1.
Still, it looks like it’s working as the fire is smaller in graphics #3 and #4. But then again, it’s also not actually out. Maybe it’s only the instructions on how to make a fire smaller, not actually extinguish it. That takes 10 steps … with 5 diagrams.
