Looking through photos of my dad and mom's, I came across this one and thought it was uber cool. That's my mom.

People have different tastes (thank God). This is why it’s important to get lots of your work out there–even the work that you might not think is good.

Why should I put my work out there? No one is going to like it.

You just never know.

That about sums up why I think people should put their work out there. In fact, especially the work they’re not sure about. Whether they think it’s not good enough or just different or just too ________, put it out. See what happens.

NOTE: This is just a short post, but this is also another reason Why I Write. I don’t want to forget this point, this idea, this philosophy as I think it’s so important. So I just post a snippet to get my point across and I’ll come back to it later. But this is why you need to get your work out there. No, really.

OK, sure, if you hate it, someone else might hate it too. Great, no harm done. You can learn your tastes and how they align with other people.

My mom wondered why I liked this photo so much as she would have thrown it out as we were going through my dad’s old albums. But I thought it was a classic. I don’t know, could be the cover of Vogue magazine or something. Or am I just biased? Do I just think my mom is super hip?

But that’s the point, it doesn’t matter why I think something is worth keeping, it just matters that I do.
