What’s a threat to your daily habit?

What’s a threat to your daily habit?

Your habit is in full swing. Then _________ hits. Now what?

What’s that thing? What can put a damper in your habit? What could put a wrench in your spokes?

Not much can stop me. No, wait, nothing can stop me. But tonight I have such a headache that I just want to close my eyes and go to sleep. It’s crazy, even here now with my laptop, I already feel better. Maybe my writing is my aspirin?

It didn’t even occur to me that I wouldn’t write today. It’s just no longer an option. My only thought was more about what I could write that I would get done more quickly so I could sign off and close my eyes and go to sleep?

I even thought back to what has slowed me down or possibly even put a dent in my daily habit in the past?

  • Fatigue: writing can even be a cure for fatigue as it, usually, gets your creativity flowing.
  • Alcohol: I should have some kind of breathalyzer test that I could do to see which posts are alcohol induced.
  • WiFi: the worst case I remember was in a hotel (in a first-world country, no less) with no WiFi and I was connecting via the supermarket across the street. Was slow, but if I sat by the window, it worked.
  • Headache: I can already tell myself what would have prevented this today: write in the morning.

In fact, writing in the morning would solve 3 of the 4 points above. On that note, and seeing that it’s December and 2016 is going to be the year that’s going to bust this dam wide open, I’m going to make 2016 my Write Every Day in the Morning year. Not 100%, but a strong majority of the days. There are just too many upsides to the morning and too many downsides to writing at night.

On that note, my kids are still awake and I wished them goodnight. It’s super early and although my headache feels a bit better, I’m looking forward to an early morning and Chapter 30 because I don’t really know what’s going to happen under the Markree Castle and I want to be around to find out.
