If you’re doing what no one else is doing, are you a leader or a loser?

If you’re doing what no one else is doing, are you a leader or a loser?

If you’re all alone, how can you even ask someone which one you are?

Who can you trust with the question anyway? What if they’re secretly jealous of what you’re doing and want you to fail? Or maybe they’ve (quietly) done what you’re doing and know that you’re not going to succeed. Maybe they just don’t know and don’t have an answer but give you an answer anyway.

What then? Who can you trust? Can you trust yourself?

How do you think:

  1. If you don’t do it, no one else will.
  2. If you don’t do it, someone else will.

Write that book, get that job, make that money, move abroad, do this thing, start that project, begin that thing. Are you stuck because you don’t have any backing or maybe no one thinks its a great idea? Or maybe others have done it and you don’t know if you’ll be that different in doing it. Why should you do it? Why not someone else?

If no one else is doing it, is it OK that you’re doing it?

Maybe the question is more how you see this:

  1. I can’t (shouldn’t/couldn’t) do it because no one else is doing it.
  2. I can’t (shouldn’t/couldn’t) do it because someone else is (already) doing it.

Are you concerned that because no one else is doing it, it might seem like the wrong / crazy / unnatural / weird / out-of-the-ordinary thing to do?

If no one else is doing it, how can you compare how you do with how someone else did?

How do you know what to do?

How do you decide what to do? How much influence do others have on you? How much confidence do you have in what you’re doing and in you doing it? If you know what you’re doing and are sure of it, do you even care what others think? If others seem to be so smart and confident, do you even care what you think?

If you’re a leader can you become a loser? If you’re a loser, can you become a leader? Are they mutually exclusive? Is that even the question?

Maybe the question is: If you don’t do what you feel that you have to do, how will you ever know?
