Doctor Strange
“I don’t know what my future holds. But I can’t go back.”
Just saw the new Benedict Cumberbatch film “Doctor Strange.” We picked it because it looked like a good action film that our kids wouldn’t balk at. But we were in for something of a secret treat.
Baron Mordo: Stephen Strange, might I offer you some advice? Forget everything that you think you know.
If you have any experience with meditation and the power of the mind, you’ll get a kick out of this film. It’s Hollywood, so most things are exaggerated and enhanced to make it more of a huge spectacle, but some of the underlying points still manage to slip through.
Wong: Be careful which path you travel down, Strange. Stronger men than you have lost their way.
The power of meditation lies in the basis that it comes from within. There are few external sources more powerful than what you have within you. But it’s one of those things that you probably won’t believe until you experience it for yourself and before you do, you’ll happily stand on the side of the skeptics.
The Ancient One: You think you know how the world works. You think this material universe is all there is. What if I told you the reality you know is one of many?
When you have never experienced something, it’s hard to envision it. When you think you have to try and try harder and you hear that what you actually need to do is surrender, it just doesn’t make logical sense.
I learned to tap into powers I never even knew existed.
If you didn’t know they exist but you now have them, how can you explain it to those who don’t yet have them?
