Are you having fun along the way?
Let’s see, there’s now, in between and then a final place. How’s it going?
I’m going to keep this brief because it’s one of those “Simple & Easy” (as opposed to Simple But Not Easy or Easy But Not Simple) things that we can do something about right now. No, like right this very minute.
You’re never going to get to any final place. And so, we want to remind you to relax and start having fun on the way. — Abraham Hicks
I know, it’s late. It’s almost midnight. I’m on the island of Ko Samui in Thailand. I’m writing this as “I am having fun along the way.” The future is unknown. The past is known. Oh, by the way, there’s nothing to you can do about the past: it’s done, it’s over. The future? Sure, you can shape that more or less depending on … Tada! Drumroll! Behind door number three! The present.
I know. Same old, same old. No, not that Same Old, Same Old. I mean Same Old Same Old answer. The present. Booooring. Dullsville! C’mon, don’t you have anything than the present that we can work with? Sorry, no.
Are you busy with the future? Making today better so that tomorrow is even better? Awesome. No, Awesome Possum. Because let me allow you a little secret: relax. Have fun along the way.
Some of you think you’re playing “The Short Game.” But unless you’re dying tomorrow (and I truly hope you’re not), then you’re in this for The Long Game.
Relax. Pick a long game goal and make it count. Move a little closer towards it every day. No, Every Single Day.
That’s it. That’s the secret. I’m writing a book about it. It’ll be great, I swear. But that’s the bottom line. The choice is up to no one but you. So how’s that going? Waiting around for that help? That crutch? That excuse? The reason? Stop waiting.
You have today. Make it count. Have fun along the way.
