Thanks to Draft2Digital and Findaway Voices, “The Secret of Kite Hill” audiobook is just about live!
Of course, if they can overlook some of the background noise and loud 8-year olds recording his own chapter, we’ll be fine.
I was just setting up my new recording studio here in our woodsy town of Driebergen in The Netherlands when I thought, “Wait a second, we recorded this book years ago. Let’s just re-try those files!”
Years back, I submitted the audio files to the (then) only game in town: ACX, an Amazon company.
Now I’ve been getting familiar with Draft2Digital and their (new) relationship with Findaway Voices and I just uploaded the audio files for The Secret of Kite Hill–complete with Lu’s Chapter 8 and Li’s Chapter 9. Ach, their voices are so sweet and young!
Did someone say deadline?
I need deadlines. I admit it. I’m clueless without them.
I’m going to the 20 Books London writer’s conference in a few weeks and I wanted to get a few more things “out there” by then. One of them was the audiobook version of my first book.
I just hit upload. The files might get rejected (ahem, again) by ACX (Amazon), but maybe they’ll slide through the others. Yes, I do realize that chapters 8 and 9 are a little lacking in “professional sound recording studio” but hey, they were 8 and 10 years old.
Maybe their sweet voices will win them over and soon we’ll all be putting on the headphones, walking with our dog in the woods, and listening to what it means to figure out The Secret of Kite Hill.
