How much pride do you have in your business? It shows … either way.

How much pride do you have in your business? It shows … either way.

How important is the first impression of your business?

How much do you care what people care about your business?

How much do you care what people care about your business?

For the record, here goes with the correct spelling:

Exercise Classes
Every Tuesday
9 AM to 11 AM

Admittedly, “exercise” is a tough one. I used to swear it was “exc … ” It just sounds like there should be a C in there, doesn’t it? But then there is even another misspelling of that same word! I wonder if you would get marked down twice in school with two misplaced letters in the same word or do you just get the word wrong?

Then “Tuesdays” has that S in there, but doesn’t need one at the end.

There was another spelling mistake on another sign for the same business on another door.

So, sure, it’s not a law firm or a doctor’s office or the spelling bee class or English 101. It’s exercise. But should that matter? Shouldn’t most things have correct spelling? Or shouldn’t everything? Why not? They printer could have asked someone. Maybe someone saw the mistakes but just didn’t bother to say anything.

But I saw it. I wonder how many people noticed. How many people cared. How many people changed a decision for it? Sure, maybe not many–again, it’s exercise. But it’s the point of the matter: they’re not taking pride in their work. The time to check spelling, at least ask someone. Maybe it’s just not important for them. But if something as easy to check as spelling of a few words isn’t important, I wonder how serious they are about their exercise. Maybe they just skimp on equipment because no one checks. Maybe something is broken because no one bothered to see if it worked. Don’t check the sign on the front door, don’t check the lock on the back door, don’t check to see if the exercise equipment is safe.

Does this sort of thing matter? Obviously not to some. But to some others, it does.
