Nothing Tastes As Good As Skinny Feels
Do you feel better having an emptier stomach or a cheese burger?
NOTE: This is one of those “make that old draft into a post” posts. I remember the date, I see it was late 2012, and I was losing weight and happy about it. So I’m filling in a draft because it’s late and I have to write. This is a good challenge to write from a title from long ago.
I think there are probably campaigns against bulimia with similar titles (OK, quick Google search and … there are), but this one is about how good it feels to not have a full stomach–or to have lost some weight.
It’s again about the after effects. It’s a bit like not liking running, but enjoying the effects after running. It’s not so fun to not eat, but the next morning (or the next day or the next week or month), you’re proud that you feel better. You did the work, you put in the time, the effort and you’re celebrating the results.
For me, it’s not as much about looking at my gut. It’s more about how I feel. I feel lighter, a springier step, a lightness to my being.
Oh. Apparently, Kate Moss said this and started an eating controversy. Oh well, I just like feeling a little hungry rather than feeling a little full.
I think I chose this draft tonight because I haven’t been holding back at all. At the buffet in Greece, just letting loose and having, pretty much, whatever I wanted. Sure, I’m in the pool all day, active with the kids and even a few times to the gym and a few runs, but the calories burned are nowhere near the calories taken in.
What’s my point? It’s good for you to stop at 80% of being full.
That’s it. It’s hard, I know. I struggle with it. We even talked about it tonight. But like anything that’s hard, it feels good afterwards.
