Something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it
Everyone has talent.
You have talent. I have talent. You have talents I don’t have and I have talents you don’t have. We also have talents in common, that overlap, that are the same.
I might be better in those than you. Or you’re better. In a way, it doesn’t matter so much. Yes, it matters, but not so much or not that much or not all that much.
Here’s Jackson Main from A Star is Born that we saw yesterday:
Look, talent comes everywhere, but having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it, that’s a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you’ll never know. That’s just the truth. And there’s one reason we’re supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear. So you got to grab it, and you don’t apologize, and you don’t worry about why they’re listening, or how long they’re going to be listening for, you just tell them what you want to say. Don’t you understand what I’m trying to tell you? — Jackson Maine, A Star is Born, from IMDB quotes
I need bullet points to figure this out:
- talent comes everywhere,
- but having something to say and a way to say it
- so that people listen to it,
- that’s a whole other bag
In my translation or interpretation:
- everyone and/or anyone has talent,
- but do you want to share it? How will you share it?
- in a way that people will listen to,
- that’s the difference
Which all means:
- We’re floating in a sea of talent,
- But only some of us want to share it, can share it,
- In a way others will listen,
- otherwise, we’re just floating in a sea of talent.
So what’s it going to be?
We don’t need to please everyone. We just need a good handful of people we reach and can connect with.
having something to say and a way to say it
so that people listen to it
We have to get our voice out there to find that group will listen–will want to listen.
If we’re silent, no one will ever know or hear or listen.
Not even us. Not even me. Not even you.
