Creation is Hard
It’s now 7:00 AM. I woke up at 5:30. I have plenty of client work I need to do. Especially for one site where I just have to put in the SEO-friendly titles into each page. Mindless. Could do it in my sleep. Maybe I should.
But I have this challenge, this Write Every Day challenge. I also want to write, I want to be writing, I want to be a writer. What is a writer? A writer is someone who writes. However:
Writing is Difficult. Writing is not Easy. I have to use my Brain. I have to Think.
Well that sucks.
I’m tempted to do the client work because it’s easy. It’d be even harder if it were something technical that I needed to solve as I’m kinda techy and I like those technical challenges. But this is another sort of challenge, it’s a creative challenge, it’s a creation, production, and production challenge.
Why this is a good thing.
This is good if (and only if) you’re willing to do things that are hard. If you just want the easy way out, good, more room for those of us who are willing to make an effort. A writer friend of mine just hits the (virtual) pavement and sells her books. Does she sell lots of books? Depends on who you compare her to. Does she sell more than if she took the easy route and did nothing? Guaranteed.
If you work hard, are you guaranteed success? No, but if you don’t work hard, you can be pretty certain your success will be limited.
Note to self: be a lion.
