For this mostly-digital e-book author, it was a brick and mortar extravaganza.

Months of back-and-forth emails, deep dives into new waters (e.g. IngramSpark), and a bit of timing, this author spoke at an event and got his books on the shelves at one of California’s premier bookstores.

Was it all worth it?

For me, the photo above was worth it all.

As a digital and audiobook fanatic, I was brought back down to earth and planted in among readers and writers for an evening of questions, answers, and even a bit of, yes, math.

As good as all of the algorithms, the latest in advertising tactics, and best of online intentions, there’s just something you can’t get when you’re not in person.

Shaking hands, taking questions, exchanging cards and smiles, laughs and stories, we closed the place down and braced the northern California evening chill to keep the conversation going.

Thank you, Book Passage, for a memorable evening!
