Expand your market reach and make your books available in any (and all) formats that your potential readers might use.

I’m such a Kindle fan these days that I don’t even want physical books any longer–they just take up space on my shelves. Space that I don’t have and don’t want to give up.

But don’t forget: not everyone is like you. You are not your only customer.

But I’ve had requests for paper or printed versions of my books and I didn’t have them available. I finally got The Secret of Kite Hill up on CreateSpace and in paperback form.

I was inspired to get the print version up after we just got the second book up in the Li & Lu series on April 1 (The Secret of Markree Castle is now available on Amazon and will be available in print as soon as, uh, we get it up there).

I specifically remember that I started the CreateSpace process a few months ago, but got bogged down when there were more steps than I was ready for at that time. It probably has something to do with the idea that I no longer really buy physical books, so I figured, “Why bother?” But of course, that’s limited thinking.

But now that The Secret of Markree Castle is out, I want to actually, duh, you know, try to promote the books. So I should make sure they’re available in channels that I might not use myself, but others would. So, today, this is one: CreateSpace for a printed book. Next up? Audio version, how about over on Barnes & Noble for the Nook users. Let’s see, what else?

Exactly. That’s how I have to be thinking from here on out. I’m ready.

  • Possible: publish your book on one channel
  • Impossible: publish your book on all channels
  • Repossible: publish your book on the most effective channels
