No hoodies?

No hoodies?

What does this sign mean for you?

So, specifically, is it no hoodies for women? No hoodies for women with long hair? [Istanbul, Turkey]

So, specifically, is it no hoodies for women? No hoodies for women with long hair? [Istanbul, Turkey]

Is it no hoodies for women? No hoodies for women with long hair? No red hoodies? No red hoodies for women when long, dark hair and no nose or eyes?

Disclaimer: I seem to have lots of disclaimers lately … but anyway. It’s late, I’m tired, and I just had to write about this photo. I really do enjoy signs … 😉

I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading (well, listening) about marketing and how you need to be laser focused on your target audience. Well, I also read about how your headline shouldn’t be two words long with just about zero meaning … but anyway. So what kind of message is this sign giving? The people in line might have to ask, they might be confused. Maybe, if they’re wearing a hoodie (and have the other characteristics of the photo), they only need to take the hoodie off of their head, let it rest on their back.

Maybe they can’t stand slightly sideways as it’s a sign of aggression–or passive-aggressive teenager I-don’t-care-about-anything attitude. Maybe they just don’t want attitude. Maybe that’s it. Maybe it’s about how hoodies are aggressive and worn by hoodlums (hey, word connection there!) and they’re just not welcome.

But then again, maybe they really don’t want female hoodlums standing cockeyed (obviously looking for a fight or looking to not care about whatever attraction they’re about to (not) enter) wearing red–and certainly not with long, brown hair.

It could be the flowing hair. Maybe they should hand out hair brushes. Maybe they do.

Maybe it’s all just nothing and means nothing and if you were a women with long, dark hair wearing a red hoodie and leaning a bit to one side, you’d get in with the rest of the … hoodlums.

P.S. I’m filing this under Marketing … 😉
