The Secret of Kite Hill audiobook is in production!

Microphone? Check. Sound recording software? Check. Oh yeah, book? Check. Go.

We’re finally started with the recording of the audiobook for The Secret of Kite Hill.
Maybe it’s because the holidays are coming up and I want to get it done. No, I know what it is: I have the second book in the Li & Lu series lined up but I won’t allow myself to get started too deeply before I finish up with the other formats for Kite Hill. Yay, the process has begun!
Damn, one of those 6 months + 15 minutes jobs.
Ever sinceΒ hitting publish on The Secret of Kite Hill, I knew I wanted to get the (1) print version ready as well as the (2) audio version. I just recorded chapter one and it took up 5 minutes of actual recording time, a few takes, and it’s ready. But the Kindle version was ready on April 1. It’s now November. What’s up with that?
What gets a project done? Deadlines.
A calendar also helps. Oh, and a schedule. With dates, with due dates, with deadlines. I had a deadline for the Kindle version, why not another for the other versions? They are at least as important because I knew I didn’t want to promote the book at all without the other versions ready.
Look on the bright side: it’s started.
I need to remember to look on the positive side: I’ve begun. Starting is half the battle (at least!). I want to have it live on the Amazon site by the holidays (and that’s not the presidential birthdays, either). Chapter 1? Done. Chapter 8? Luca’s chapter: done. Keep up the momentum.
