How much is “It just works.” worth? How to make decisions in the present from the future.
What’s more valuable: your time, your money, your stress, or your sanity?
Of course, you can’t do this with every purchase or decision, but try to think into the future and look back and make the decision from there. Yes, from the future.
Let’s see, here’s one: tomorrow morning I’m flying to Vienna to spend a week at a writer’s retreat (Creative Castle). How does that rate on the “what will I look back and say?’ scale? Pretty much off the charts.
In other news, I spent the last hour searching comments and forums to trick my Epson XP 235 into disregarding the empty Cyan color cartridge to let me print in black. I’ve lost this battle and instead found this. If I think back to my last-minute purchase of said printer a year-or-so ago, I’m sure I didn’t do the whole back to the future scenario.
I’m paying for that lack of insight tonight.
This is my reminder.

Life lessons in summary:
- Do spend time in castles writing.
- Don’t buy cheap inkjet printers.
