Crunchy Spaghetti

First you cook it, then you cook it again. If it’s not crunchy, it’s not done.

I can’t remember how it started, but my son loves Crunchy Spaghetti from Grandma. Every time she visits, we have to make it. My son can also make it himself–and he’s quite proud. Here’s the not-very-secret recipe:

  1. Boil water
  2. Add spaghetti
  3. Boil per instructions
  4. Drain
  5. Heat griddle or frying pan or wok
  6. Add butter
  7. Add spaghetti
  8. Fry until slightly brown to liking


The real joy of this meal is cooking it together with grandma. That’s the actual secret ingredient that you can’t get at the market.
