There Isn’t Only One Expert Out There

No one has the market cornered on, well, anything.

There are two ways to skin a cat.

Wait? Or are there more?

Sorry cat lovers, this is my image for "more than one way to skin a cat."

Sorry cat lovers, this is my image for “more than one way to skin a cat.”

A tiny but relevant example: I picked a lock but learned from a different expert and even used different tools. Of course, there are more than one way to pick a lock. Just like there are more ways to do, well, anything.

This is good news for anyone looking to teach, build a course, write a book or anything where they might hesitate because they think it’s already been done or someone else is more expert than they are.

The best expert is the one who’s best for you.

There are more than one math teachers out there. Maybe one is rated as the top, but you just don’t like his style. You actually learn better from the guy who’s barely passed trigonometry, but he explains things so well that you understand it all–maybe he even gets you to like math. So who’s “better”? The guy with the PhD or the guy who can teach you better?

Someone is going to connect better with you than with anyone else. Who knows, maybe lots of people will connect better with you. Do you want a tip to learn if it’s going to happen? It’s easy: get started. Let them know you’re out there, let them know that you have what it takes and even if you don’t have all of the requirements you may think you need, you have one requirement that the student needs: they connect with you.
