On Sale! Free! Today only! Get yours now! Is that a good marketing strategy?

“Every Single Day” is available for free tomorrow, Oct. 31, 2017!
But if you don’t care about my book or know about it or understand why you should buy it, does free even matter?
If you really wanted it, the $2.99 price tag probably isn’t the barrier. No, I think the barrier is more likely you don’t know why this book is for you–or if it is for you at all.
What does a new author really need?
Readers.
Once he or she has the readers, what does she need next? This is where it gets interesting. We need a few things:
- More readers.
- Reviews.
- The next book.
Some say that “the next book” is the best marketing tool for the last book. “What are you working on now?” is the question many authors get even the day after a book launch? Crazy? Not so much.
Writing the book is just one step of many in the entire life of a book. By the time it’s available, the author has in many ways already moved on. In fact, they might have moved on so much that they’re even a little tired of that book and are passionate about The Next Big Thing.
But does it being free make it interesting? I’m going to find out. If you’d like to find out what makes ESD tick, you can get it free all day on Oct. 31, 2017 in preparation for NaNoWriMo.
