Alcohol is fun, but this is more fun.
Waking up to create is more fun than staying up to … sedate.
Was looking for a rhyming verb:
- Alcohol: bait, fate, late, wait. Even more syllables: floodgate, frustrate, inmate, sedate, sleep late,
- Morning: gait, great, skate, straight. But even: clean slate, collate, gestate, flow rate, free state, narrate, uncrate …
Clearly, I’m writing this in the morning.
As part of a weight-loss challenge, I didn’t have alcohol for 2 months. I felt:
- Light
- Clear
- Active
- Strong
- Consistent
- Creative
- Connected
Wow, those just came out of me off the top of my mind.
Then I had a few beers. Just three to be exact. The next day I was:
- Sleepy
- Slow
- Dull
- Disconnected
- Yearning for bed so I could … wake up fresher and stronger.
Were they “worth” it? Those few beers? Old friends, good times, happy chatter, yummy food and a really fun evening. Yes, it was excellent. But my next day?
I’m not talking about getting hammered. I’m talking about staying sharp, rising up to the top of your game, staying there, and then consistently exceeding even your own expectations.
Wow, that about sums it up for me. Let me quote that if I may be so bold.
Staying sharp, rising up to the top of your game, staying there, and then consistently exceeding even your own expectations.
That’s what I get a kick out of. That’s what I look forward to. That’s what more fun than a few beers.
What gives you a kick?
