H is for Health

H is for Health
This entry is part 8 of 27 in the series A to Z

When you don’t have something, you long for it. Health even more so.

I currently have my health. I need to remind myself how blessed I am. I won’t say lucky, OK, I’ll also say lucky (no major diseases), but I take care of myself. I’m conscious of my health, I work on it, strive towards it. It’s important to me. In fact, from a certain perspective, it’s the most important.

Without it, nothing much else goes as well, as smoothly, as enjoyably. You know this when you don’t have your health. Even if I have a cold, when I’m 85%, I miss that 15% of my healthy self. I can only imagine what the inverse might be like. It’s for that reason that I’m trying to live life as if that’s going to happen. I’m going to enjoy everything at 100% while I can.

It’s not necessarily a question only of age. A 39-year old friend suddenly died of a heart attack last Sunday. That’s it, just a Sunday. No Monday, just Sunday. Yesterday was Monday, it wasn’t terribly memorable, but it existed. I’m pretty excited about existence.

Do you have your health? Do you have some of it? Lots of it? Appreciate what you have, work with it, improve it, prolong it, think about it, work on it, be who you need to be. When’s a good time to start? Now’s good.

When you don't have it, you can't imagine what it's like to have it again.

When you don’t have it, you can’t imagine what it’s like to have it again.

Health is probably the easiest thing to take for granted. And when you are sick or injured the healing process can be trying.
